JAYG Forest Animal Blocks (Join-As-You-Go Blanket CAL)
These Join-As-You-Go (JAYG) C2C woodland animal blocks are designed to be worked in a fixed, numbered order for the JAYG C2C Forest Animal Blanket CAL. The finished blanket is made of 9 animal blocks and includes a customizable name panel. Please follow the block order exactly as listed.
If you’re not ready to learn the Join-As-You-Go (JAYG) method yet, you can crochet these animal blocks in the traditional way, by working each C2C square individually and joining them together at the end. In this case, simply follow the written row-by-row color counts and the crochet graph, and skip the Join-As-You-Go instructions. No specific block order is required. You can freely mix and match these blocks with the classic woodland C2C animal blocks featured above to create your own custom blanket layout.
Love this JAYG C2C Forest Animal Blanket?
When using the same background color for all JAYG C2C animal blocks, the finished blanket has a clean, cohesive look and appears as if it were made in one continuous piece. For a different effect, you can also choose different background colors for each block to create a playful, checkered design.
See the general CAL information and the supplies needed on the JAYG C2C Forest Animal Blanket CAL page.
The JAYG C2C animal blocks come with free written instructions and downloadable crochet graphs, along with step-by-step photos and video tutorials that clearly show how to join the blocks as you go.

Can I do the animal blocks in half double or double crochet? Try as i might, I cannot double corner 2 corner stitch. I love these blocks. Been looking at them since you first published them. Thank you@
ReplyDeleteYes, absolutely — you can use either half double crochet (hdc) or double crochet (dc) for the animal blocks. 😊
DeleteI’ve tried both myself, and when using dc, the blocks turn out a bigger and slightly loopier. I personally prefer hdc because it gives a tighter, more defined look, but both options work beautifully.
I’m so happy to hear you’ve loved these blocks since I first published them — thank you so much for your kind words and for being here! 🧶💕
