In this post I will show you three methods of decreasing the stitch single crochet worked in back loops only. I have made a step by step picture tutorial for each each method, so you will be able to compare the way of working and the results obtained with each method separately.

These cute crochet thread flowers are great to embellish your projects!

This flower it is made using crochet cotton thread and it has a diameter of 5 cm. If you will work with yarn, your flower will be much bigger.

Materials needed:

- cotton thread size 8 in 2 colors: A and B;

- 2 mm crochet hook;

- 1 button, approx 1,7 cm diameter;

- sewing needle.

Stitches, terms and abbreviations used:

ch: chain

sc: single crochet

dc: double crochet

sl st: slip stitch

Special term:
Invisible fasten off: By the last stitch of the round, remove hook, insert hook from back to front into first sc at the beginning of the round, catch loop and pull through.

Pattern:

With cotton thread color A ch6, join with sl st to form a ring.

Round 1 : ch5 (count as the first dc and ch2); (1 dc, 2 ch)*7 times, sl st in the 3rd ch from the beginning ch5. Cut yarn. Fasten off.


First round

Round 2: With thread color B , inserting the hook from back, make 1 sc around the stem of a dc of the previous round, ch3, (sc around the stem of next sc, ch3)*7 times, sl st into first sc.

Second round complete

Round 3: With thread color B, make (1sc,1hdc, 3dc, 1hdc, 1sc) in each ch3 loop of the previous round. 8 petals total.

Fasten off invisibly. (See explanation above)

First layer of petals

Round 4: Change to thread color A and folding the petals to the front, take hook behind the petals and insert it from back, make 1 sc around the stem of the first sc between the petals, ch4, (1sc around of the stem of next sc between the petals, ch4) *7 times. Sl st into first sc.

Round 4

Round 5: make (1sc, 7dc, 1sc) in each ch4 loop of the previous round. Fasten off invisibly. (8 petals total)
Sew the yarn tails.
Sew a button in the center of the flower.
