Special Stitches Used
Star Stitch: This pattern uses a modified star stitch worked across multiple stitches and rows. The first star stitch of each star row is worked differently than the following star stitches.
A step-by-step photo tutorial is provided below to guide you through the construction of the star stitch.
Notes
- Each complete star is worked over 2 rows: one star stitch row and one hdc row.
- The first star stitch row is worked into the foundation chains as usual.
- From Row 3 onward, all star stitches are worked into the back loops only (BLO).
- A stabilizing hdc at the end of star stitch rows keeps the side edges straight.
- Turning chains do not count as stitches.
- Tip: Placing a stitch marker in the center stitch of the 3 sc made in each corner can help you easily identify where to work the next corner on subsequent rounds.
