Size: 2-3 year old toodler

Measurements:

Materials:
- 1 skein + a small amount of another skein of Caron Simply Soft yarn, color Watermelon

- small amount of white and green yarn for flower
- 5 mm crochet hook
- 4.5 mm crochet hook
- 5 buttons
- tapestry needle to sew in the ends
- sewing needle and thread to sew to buttons
- stitch markers/ yarn pieces

Update 05.11.2013: Very good results were obtained by crocheters using a smaller hook (4 mm or 4,5 mm) for the yoke part and a 5 mm crochet hook for the body part!

Gauge: with a 5 mm crochet hook in the simple dc rows: 14 dc in the row x 9 rows = 10x10 cm

Stitches, terms (US) and abbreviations used:

  • ch: chain
  • sc blo: single crochet back loops only
  • sc dec: single crochet decrease
  • sc invisible dec blo: single crochet invisible decrease back loops only  (Link to the tutorial in the pattern)
  • dc: double crochet
  • sk:skip
  • st: stitch
  • dc increase: here, 3dc in same stitch
  • dec: decrease

Notes: ch 3 at beginning of the rows count as the first dc of the row. The first dc will be worked in the next stitch, after the ch3.

The last dc of the row will be worked into the top of the ch3 of previous row.

You will make increases in each row until separating for the sleeves. Each increase will be made in the center dc of the 3 dc in the corners. If you are not sure where to make the increases, you can place stitch markers in the corner center dc. With each increase row you will have 1 dc more for the front sides and 2 dc more for the shoulders and the back.
