This lovely Cheetah C2C block is critter no. 29 of the Wildlife Graphghan CAL and it is a free crochet pattern right here on My Hobby is Crochet blog!

This free crochet pattern includes written row by row instructions for color counts follow with color pixel graph below.

The Cheetah block is a bit more challenging to crochet, because of the many color changes, but I think it is worth it!
I would not recommend it though to a beginner in c2c. You should have some experience with crisp color changes.

Check out the video tutorial featured on the Wildlife Graphghan CAL page.
There you will all the info and the links to all my animal blocks.

When working the square, it will happen to not have continuous lines/curves in same color. You will just need to trick a bit when sewing in the ends and sew over to fill the spaces where the lines/ curves are not as wanted.

Here's an idea I got while creating the cheetah design! If you leave the dots out, the cheetah could be turned into a puma! I think it would work just fine! And it would be easier to make regarding color changes! Maybe change the eye color into a light yellowish green.

But now, let's get into the cheetah c2c square!

GAUGE:

6 C2C tiles = 10 x 10 cm (4 inches x 4 inches)

SIZE:

the square is 25 tiles x 25 tiles and approx. measures approx. 15 inches X 15 inches (38 cm x 38 cm)

YARN AND COLOR CHOICES:

The yarn used for this project is Red Heart Super Saver yarn!

Because the needed colorway Warm Brown is discontinued , I have deconstructed Red Heart Super Saver Latte Stripes that has several shades that can be used for this project. Instead Warm Brown I have used the deconstructed RH Super Saver Latte Stripe, colorway Sandstone.

Cheetah C2C Square in work

2. The even rows will be worked on the right side of work.

3. The uneven rows will be on the wrong side of work.

4. On the graphic you will read the even rows from top to bottom ↙ and the uneven rows from bottom to top ↗!

5. For the uneven rows (left side) you will place the yarns to the front of the work!
The first row with color changes (Row 13) it's an uneven row, so you will be working on the wrong side of work! That means that you will have to place the yarn strands to the front of your work!

  2. Not sure if I want to thank you or not -- you're going to cost me a fortune in yarn!! Seriously, though, it never occurred to me to cut up some of the striping yarn to get small amounts of some colours not widely available!! That is such a fabulous idea! Now, off to check the Yarnspirations website for pricing and colours of Red Heart Stripes... ;)

  4. Hi Kinga, thanks for these wonderful patterns. I just finished a few C2C graphgans that I made for family for Christmas, so I was looking for a new challenge and I think I just found it. The animals all look amazing and I can't wait to get started. If you plan on creating more animal patterns, I'd love to check them out and trying them out. Thanks for you hard work in creating these patters and thanks for sharing them to us for free,

    1. Hi, I'm glad you enjoy my designs! Maybe you would like to check out my latest blog post! I have made a video tutorial also, showing how to crochet graphs, (including the animal blocks of the Wildlife Graphghan) using the Bobble Single Crochet Stitch, working in rows from bottom to top; no C2C. Maybe you will like this method also! :)
