These Baby Mittens were designed to match the Blooming Berry Earflap Hat and Booties.

Blooming Berry Baby Mittens - Free Crochet Pattern

Finished Size: 5.5 cm wide and 9 cm long, will fit most babies from 0 to 6 months.

Gauge: for the sedge stitch: 1 group of (1sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc) = 1. 5 cm

Don't lose this pattern! 



Materials used:
- yarn: small amount of DK/Light Weight Yarn: I have used Anne Geddes Baby yarn from Red Heart Yarns color Taffy (pink= Color A), Spearmint (green = Color B) small amount of Lily (white = Color C)
UPDATE: The Anne Gddes yarn it is discontinued, but you can replace it with any other DK/Light Weight Yarn that meets the gauge!

- 3.5 mm crochet hook for the cuff
- 4 mm crochet hook
- tapestry needle to sew in the ends
- scissors

Stitches, Terms (US) and Abbreviations used:
ch: chain
sl st: slip stitch
sc: single crochet
sc blo: single crochet worked in back loop only
hdc: half double crochet
dc: double crochet
st: stitch
sk: skip
group: (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc) worked in same stitch
* to *: repeat the sequence of stitches between the stars


INSTRUCTIONS MITTENS (make 2)
With yarn color A and hook size 4 mm make a magic ring.
Round 1: 9 hdc into ring, join with sl st to top of first hdc. Pull yarn end to close the ring. (9 sts)

Round 2: ch 1 (does not count as a st here and throughout the pattern), 2 sc in each st around, join with sl st to top of first sc. (18 sts)

Round 3: ch1, * 1 sc in each of next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat around from * to *, join with sl st to top of first sc. (21 sts)

Round 4
: ch1, work (1sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc) into same st, sk 2 sts, work *(1sc, 1hdc, 1dc) into next st, sk 2 sts *, repeat from * to *, sl st to top of first sc. ( 7 groups)

Round 5
: ch 1, work (1 sc, 1hdc, 1 dc) into same st, sk (1 hdc, 1dc), work * (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc) into next sc, sk (1 hdc, 1 dc) *, repeat from * to *, sl st to top of first sc. (7 groups)

Rounds 6- 8: Repeat as round 5, at the end of round 8 sl st into round with yarn color B.

Round 9: with B repeat as round 5.
Do not cut yarn, continue directly with the ribbed cuff, worked in rows back and forth with sc blo.

The cuff
: Change to hook size 3.5 mm and ch 7.
Row 1: work in back loops of foundation chain, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and 1 sc in each of next 5 ch, 1 sl st in each of next 2 hdc along edge of mitten, ch 1, turn. (6sc total )

Row 2: sk the 2 sl st just made, work 1 sc blo in each of next 6 sts, ch1, turn.

Row 3: 1 sc blo in each of next 6 sts to edge of mitten, sl st in next 2 sts along edge of mitten.

Rows 4- 21: repeat as rows 2- 3.

Joining the side of the cuff:
Turn mitten inside out; ch1, hold the 2 sides of the cuff together and sl st across through top loops of each side back. Cut yarn fasten off. Weave in the ends.

Flower Pattern:
With yarn color C and hook size 3.5 mm make a magic ring. You will work all the petals directly into the magic ring.
* Ch3, work dc2tog, ch 3, sl st into ring *, repeat from * to * 5 times for 5 petals. Cut yarn. Fasten off. Pull yarn end to close the magic ring. Weave in the ends and sew the flower onto mitten.
