"Sew Better Bags: The weekend Duffel" Craftsy Class Review and 50 % OFF Special Offer for My Hobby is Crochet Fans

I was silent these days and I haven't published anything on the blog. The reason is that I've worked hard on a sewing project. That’s right, the past weeks I have learned how to machine sew. Yayyy! I took part in a 12 hours sewing workshop at our local yarn shop and learned the basics. And look what I have learned from an online course from Craftsy: a Duffel Bag!

In a previous post I showed you the amazing poplin polyester fabric that I've received from Zazzle. A really cool fabric that I have customized with my son’s name and soccer balls (because he’s a soccer fan). My dream was to make for him a custom sport bag. And my dream came true! :)

As a beginner sewist, I needed someone to show me all the steps needed to make the bag. I've found a great online class on Craftsy, “Sew better bags: The Weekend Duffel” by Betz White, where she is showing in all details how to sew a really pretty bag. I thought this is just what I needed and of course that I have enrolled immediately.

I am so happy that I did! I love the class, I have learned so many things! And I love how my bag came out. For a beginner sewist like me is quite a success! The best thing for sure is that my son loves his bag!

If you would like to take this sewing class, I have fabulous news for you!

Craftsy is offering 50% off for my followers only!

My experience with the class:

Before I began working on the bag, I have watched all the 7 videos (with a total length of almost 3 hours) included in the class to see the whole process and then sewn along with Betz. I re-watched the videos each time I needed. The 30 seconds Repeat Button was just great.

I let aside some of the steps included in the class: I have not attached an exterior pocket, nor the corner patches because I didn’t wanted to cover the soccer balls. One thing I still need to do is to add the long webbing strap, but I haven’t bought yet the hardware for it.

I love not only the outside of the bag, but also the inside! It has 3 large pockets on the one side - great for storing all kind of things - and a zippered pocket on the other side. Such fine details! I am really thrilled!

This sewing class, like all Craftsy classes I have enrolled, is mine to keep forever, so I can rewatch it anytime for future bags or other sewing projects. Of course that there are also class materials (including the pattern templates) that I have printed out. The metric conversion guide from inch to cm was very helpful to me, because I don’t use the inch system. The instructor’s answers to the classmates questions in the virtual classroom were also very helpful.

All in one, the class was awesome and I love my bag! I hope you like it also.
