Pointed Petals Flower | 6 Petals Crochet Flower | Free Crochet Pattern and Video Tutorial

Crochet Pointed Petals Flowers

You can use them to decorate all kind of projects! I really love them! I hope you will like them also!

For this flower pattern I have used medium cotton yarn and a 3.5mm crochet hook, but you can use the yarn of your choice with the corresponding hook size. Your flowers will turn out smaller/ bigger when using other other yarn weight and hook size as indicated in the pattern.

How to crochet a pointed petal flower

This crochet flower design has 6 pointed petals and it is a new version of my "older" pattern called Blackberry Flowers with 5 pointed petals.

GAUGE:

is not important in this pattern.

Size:

using various brands medium cotton yarn my flowers turn out about 3.2 inch-3.5inch (between 8-9 cm)

SUPPLIES:

  • Yarn: small amount of Medium 4 Cotton yarn in 2 colors, one for the flower center (color A) and one for the petals (color B)
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

STITCHES, TERMS (US) AND ABBREVIATIONS:

ch: chain
sc: single crochet
slst: slip stitch
tr: treble crochet
yo: yarn over
(...) repeat the sequence included in the brackets the number of time specified in the pattern
[...] repeat the sequence included in the square brackets the number of time specified in the pattern
*to* repeat the sequence included between the asterisks

SPECIAL STITCH:
tr cluster or tr4tog or triple 4 together: [yo twice, insert hook in the stitch indicated in the pattern, draw loop through, (yo, draw through 2 loops, leaving the next loops on hook)X 2 times] X 4 times.
You have 5 loops on the hook; yo, draw through all 5 loops on the hook.

(In other words, you will make 4 unfinished treble crochet, leaving each time the last loop on hook, so at the end you'll have 5 loops on hook; yo, draw through all 5 loops on the hook.)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Start with the Flower Center:
Using yarn color A ch 4, join with sl st into a ring.
Ch4, work (1sc into ring, 3ch) x 5 times, ending with a sl st into first ch of the ch4 at the beginning of the round.
Cut yarn. Fasten off.

Note: the ch4 at the beginning of this round counts as one sc and ch3.

Petals:
Join yarn color B with slst into a ch3 loop of the center and work the first petal this way:
4ch, tr4tog in same ch3 loop, work 3ch then slst to top of the cluster, 4ch, slst into same ch loop.
To work the next petal *slst to next ch loop and repeat as the for the first petal: 4ch, tr4tog in same ch3 loop, work 3ch then slst to top of the cluster, 4ch, slst into same ch loop*;
Repeat from * to * for the next 4 petals ending with slst in the first ch of the ch4 at beg of first petal of the round. (6 petals made!)

Cut yarn. Fasten off. Weave in the ends.
